P1 W1MAX Laptops

Hey welcome,
So I've read about the launch of Malaysia's first WiMAX-ready 4G laptops by Intel Malaysia and Packet One Networks Malaysia (P1) and I think it is pretty cool. The aim of launching these laptops is to boost the use of broadband in Malaysia. I think that this is a good idea to reach the aim.

The netbooks and notebooks are manufactured by Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, MSI and Toshiba. With these WiMax-ready laptops users no longer need to be in a WiFi area to stay connected because Intel has added some cool new dual-mode module Intel Centrino Advanced-N+ WiMAX 6250 embedded chip that supports the P1 WiMAX network. Now this a cool feature for me because I do like to take the internet where ever I go and most of the broadband brand right now can't do. Well at least in Malaysia I mean. As an example Celcom Broadband cannot be used unless there are Celcom signal available. And as to the area where I live, I couldn't even get enough signal to log in to my Facebook. So it would be awesome to go anywhere and still get to surf the internet or at least log in to my Facebook and check my status update.

Currently Acer, Lenovo and MSI have listed one model each, while Asus, Dell and Toshiba will list their own models soon. More netbooks and notebooks are expected to be added to the list in the coming months.

Users who purchase the laptops can register for P1 WiMAX 1NSiDE Internet plan, which comes bundled in with the laptops, allowing for almost immediate activation.

Notebook users will get to surf the first six months for free, after which they will be charged RM49 a month. Meanwhile, netbook users get to surf for free up to Sept 30, after which they will also be charged RM49 per month.

RM49 is not a bad price to pay as long as I get to surf the web anywhere I want. I really think this is worth it and I'm thinking of getting one of these new laptops.
